Able Too is a project of TechWomen alumni Cameroon 2017. A team of 5 dynamic women who won a price during a TechWomen seed grand pitch, initiated by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. This dynamic women are entrepreneurs, and academic staff in the domain of technology. Their activities is already leaving a positive impact in the lives of Cameroonian youths, especially young girls, and academic institutions. Some of their individual projects are, but not limited to the creation of technological centers such as Genius Centers, GetReady, Technovation Cameroon, Creative Arts for Girls and New Generation Technologies

Historically, TechWomen is made up of participants from around 22 countries. During its launching in June 2011, it was made up of 37 participants from Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco and the Palestinian Territories. It expanded in 2012 to include women from Tunisia and Yemen. In 2013, the cohort doubled in size with the addition of women from Cameroon, Kenya, Libya, Nigeria, Rwanda, sierra Leone, south Africa and Zimbabwe. Women from  Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan also join in 2015. the 2017 TechWomen program included women from Pakistan.

Tech for women is an initiative of the United State department of state which brings emerging women leaders in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) from Africa, central and south Asia and the middle east together with their counterparts in the United State for mentor-ship and exchange program. We empower, connects and supports this next generation of women leaders by providing them the access and opportunity needed to advance their carriers, pursue their dreams, and inspire women and girls in their communities.

TechWomen is an initiative of the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. The Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs’ (ECA) mission is to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries by means of educational and cultural exchange that assist in the development of peaceful relations. As mandated by the Mutual Educational and Cultural Exchange Act of 1961, the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) works to build friendly, peaceful relations between the people of the United States and the people of other countries through academic, cultural, sports and professional exchanges, as well as public -private partnerships.

In an effort to reflect the diversity of the United States and global society, ECA programs, funding, and other activities encourage the involvement of American and international participants from traditionally underrepresented groups, including women, racial and ethnic minorities and people with disabilities. Artists, educators, athletes, students, youth and rising leaders in the United States and more than 160 countries around the globe participate in academic, cultural, sports and professional exchanges.

Danielle AKINI

CEO & Founder of Genius Centers. Tech, Gender Equality, kids empowerment, diversity, Education, this is Danielle’s world! Danielle have 7 years experience in Hardware development and education. She was awarded as Techwomen by US government, career girls role model and Cameroon Women In tech of the year 2017.


is the co-founder and Operations manager of New Generation Technologies (NGT), a start-up company in Buea, the South-West Region of Cameroon. She has been the manager of this company for two years. Before starting NGT in 2014, she worked as a freelancer on web development projects.

As part of community engagement and promotion of girls and women in STEM, she has been the lead for Women Techmakers Buea for two years

She has also been a recipient of the prestigious Techwomen award for 2017. Mpara Faith holds a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering from the University of Buea.

She was equally named one of the 50 most influential young Cameroonians for 2017.

Zongo Meyo

is an assistant lecturer and a researcher at the faculty of science of the University of Ngaoundere, Cameroon. She was the system and network administrator of the ICT Center for 6 years and until now, she’s still in charge of the administration of some servers there.Meyo has a master’s degree with honors and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Ngaoundéré. Before that, she had a degree in computer science from the African Institute of Computer Science in Yaoundé. Thanks to it, the university of Ngaoundere is having a professional mailing service specific to the institution and a domain name in progress. She is currently the first female teacher in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science and has worked for the opening of a Cisco Academy and a Center for Continuous Education in Computer Science at the University of Ngaoundere.She works extensively with young girls communities from the University of Ngaoundere and from some high schools.

Patu Ndango Fen

is a young Cameroonian lady who is passionate about the environment, entrepreneurship and improving the lives of vulnerable groups such as women and children with special needs. She has a Bachelors degree in Environmental Science from the University of Buea and a pending Masters degree in International relations from the International Relations Institute of Cameroon where she specialized in Environmental Management and Sustainable Development. Thanks to a scholarship received from the British High Commission-Yaounde in 2014, her dreams of pursuing a master’s degree in one of the prestigious schools in Cameroon was made a reality.

She is the Founder of a social enterprise called Closed-Loop System Ventures which deals with the collection of organic plant and animal waste from various sources and its transformation into organic fertilizer which is used to promote organic farming practices. She is equally the Co-founder of a Youth-led environmental association called Youth Environmental Alliance for Sustainable Development. She belongs to several other associations such as Cameroon Women’s Scholarship Alumni Association which promotes the education and empowerment of women and young girls in Cameroon, Positive Peace Group which has as mission to foster peaceful co-existence within and between people as well between people and the environment. These are just a few of the associations through which she dedicates her time, resources and creative mindset to create lasting positive impact in her society and the world at large.

In 2016, she was selected for the Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship Program, a program through which her dreams of owning a social enterprise became possible. She was one of the 1000 awardees out of over 45,000 that applied that year. In 2017, she participated in the Techwomen Emerging Leaders Program in  which is a program sponsored by the US Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) having as mission to empower, connect and support the next generation of women leaders in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). She equally participated in the YALI regional leadership program in Lagos Nigeria in 2017 where she had the opportunity forge her leadership and entrepreneurial skills further.

2017 was indeed a groundbreaking year for her as her accomplishments lead to her being appointed as an Associate Fellow of the Royal Commonwealth Society. She was also a finalist of the Havard Business School Africa Business Challenge 2018 and a finalist of the Adamstart Entrepreneurship Challenge.

She believes in the ability of youths to lead the change that Africa needs in order to make maximum use of its resource potential for social good and she will stop at nothing to see her beloved continent emerge as a leading continent in the world.
